Having a great idea and assembling a team to bring that concept to life is the first step in creating success. While finding a new and unique idea is rare enough; the ability to successfully execute this idea is what separates great leaders from your run of the mill managers. Yet before you even get to this point, there needs to be some defining character trait that you have which in turn will net you the results later on. Here the key qualities that every great leader should possess and in turn learn to emphasize.
Qualities a Leader Has to Possess:
Know How to Deal with Adversity
A great leader will know that each adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage. Instead of thinking they are defeated, leaders consistently know that the only limitations they have are set in their own mind and continue to pursue their goals.
Mindset of Optimism
Being energetic and having enthusiasm trickles down to your team. Leaders know that the attitude in the office starts and ends with them and embrace the importance of optimism around the office. A good leader is always positive (at least publicly), consistently projecting an attitude of realistic optimism about the future. A good leader can address issues openly and frankly without spreading doom and gloom.
Knowing You Don’t Have All the Answers
Leaders gather all the information then make the best decision that they feel exists. They don’t accept mediocre ideas from their subordinates, rather they demand imagination, innovation and vision. A good leader doesn’t think he or she knows everything, or always knows better than other people.
Leaders have a belief that the work that needs to get done will be completed. They trust their team to accomplish the goals set before them. Leaders have faith in themselves and faith in those under them.
Leaders are Self-confident
They are able to dispute self-doubt in a manner that leads to action rather than capitulation. They not only practice self-confidence, they demand it from themselves and make those under them confident in their abilities.
There are Certain Traits We Need to have to Net the Results We Want
It’s important we have certain traits innate or have developed them; this will allow us to lead our teams to the heights we envision. Having these traits will enable us to create the results we want.
